What Causes Lower Abdominal Pain?

default
Posted on Mon, 6 Oct 2014
Question: I have had lower abdominal pain around the urea the area, feels like some of my insides are pressing down and making a pain in that area. I have also noticed since this started when I urinate instead of a stream it tends to be a spray.
I have been doing physical therapy on my lower back for the last two weeks and this has been pretty tough on me. After last Thursdays therapy, my lower back was in dire pain for two days and it radiated to my lower front abdominal area. This pressure started again this afternoon and is not going away.
Thanks, XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Urethritis with vault prolapse possible

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for consulting HCM.

At 66 with hysterectomy done, pain lower abdomen and difficult urination with loss of stream of urine indicates the presence of urethritis with cystitis and possible vault prolapse.
The descent of vault can cause pressure and pain symptoms in lower abdomen.

I suggest you to undertake a pelvic ultrasound for ovarian enlargement (which I presume must have been left during hysterectomy) or other possible organic causes. Secondly opt for a gynaec exam by your gynaecolotist to evaluate for vault prolapse and if at all any form of stress or mixed incontinence. Also get a urine culture done.

In the meantime you can opt for hot water fomentation for back and pain killers if required.

Regards.
