Stomach infection; low back pain might or might not be associated
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for posting your query in Healthcaremagic.com.
This is Dr. Swarnava Dattagupta answering your query.
I understand your concern.
Thank you for providing an informative history.
It seems like you have a stomach infection; the lower back pain might or might not be associated. In stomach infections, sometimes one can have cramping pain also going to the back, but considering your age, it is better to rule out bony changes like arthritis, spondylosis like conditions.
In such patients, I generally prescribe the following-
Soft bland diet.
Lots of water or ORS solution orally.
antibiotics like Ofloxacin-Ornidazole.
Painkillers either orally or local gel like Diclofenac, Ibuprofen for low back pain.
Dicyclomine for cramping pain in abdomen.
muscle relaxants like Thiocolchicoside if required in severe pain.
Avoiding forward bending, heavy weight lifting.
Preferably an X-ray of Lumbosacral spine AP view.
You need to consult your treating or family doctor about the above and get them prescribed.
Hope I have answered your question.
If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
Regards.
