Brief Answer:
Reflux disease

Detailed Answer:
Hi there

Thanks for the query

Usually mid and upper back pain are not commonly due to cervical spondylosis but it can be due to your reflux disease.

It would be advisable to get an upper GI Endoscopy to look for any oesophageal inflammation.

Avoid lying down immediately after a meal, avoid smoking and drinking alcohol, avoid spicy food, junk food, caffeine and colas.

You need to be on treatment for the reflux disease which is the cause of all your symptoms you've mentioned. Medicines like Rabeprazole with Sucralfate can help.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.

Had endoscopy a few months ago--very little irritation. The discomfort I have feel more like a muscle or vertabrae problem, nothing due to reflux.

Brief Answer:
Spondylosis

Detailed Answer:
The spondylosis of the Thoracic spine could contribute.

Do get Physiotherapy done to increase the range of movements of the spine. Stretching exercises and TENS therapy will help.

Pain killers with muscle relaxant like Tablet Diclofenac with Thicolchicoside combination twice a day for 5 days after meals will be helpful.

Can you tell me the definition of spondylosis and if it is common at my age. Also. I attend a class in yoga--is that beneficial?

Brief Answer:
Degenerative arthritis of the spine. Yoga is very helpful

Detailed Answer:
In simple words, spondylosis is degenerative arthritis of the joints in the spine that cause pain on movement like bending forwards, lifting weights and twisting.

It is common after the age of 50 years.

Yoga is beneficial as it reduces the muscle spasm and improves flexibility.
