My period have been getting lighter for some time usually they are close to being the same time every month a couple of times a week difference
I have gained some extra weight around the stomach area and I'm finding it hard to move the weight
My knees and legs get a burning feeling in them some days and very achy
About 2 months ago I had a urine infection and I find I'm losing urine slowly at times it's a case of when I need to go to the toilet I must go
I'm not to sure about the flushes I think they are hot flushes but they are only occurring in my head area but I'm not experiencing to many

Brief Answer:
It might be menopause.
Detailed Answer:
Dear madam,I got your information.I understand your concern.
In my opinion all the symptoms you described are going in favour of menopause.
Menopause is said to occur when there is no period for one year.
But any bleeding after a gap of 6 months is to be investigated as it is considered to be postmenopausal bleeding.
Usually menopause occurs between 45 to 50 years.Average age is 47.
Some will have periods beyond 50 years.
That might be due to good nutrition and better health .
Or
That might be due to fibroids or any other uterine abnormality.
There is accumulation of fat around the abdomen and hip area.So there will be weight gain.
The cycle pattern varies in different people.
1)Some have normal cycle pattern till complete stoppage of periods.
2)Some have cycle every 2 to 3 months irregularly till stoppage of periods.
3)Some have cycle every month but with less bleeding than usual every month till periods stop completely.
So I feel you come under third category.
The urinary symptom you are experiencing is called urge incontinence.
Urge and stress incontinence, urine infections are also conmon during this period .
Drink adequate fluids upto 2 litres.coconut water and cranberry juice are also very helpful to decrease the urinary tract infections.
Hot flushes are a warmth sensation felt around face and neck. They are for 2 to 3 minutes.
Headache is also seen might be due to disturbed sleep which in turn is a symptom of menopause.
Joint pains are due to osteoporosis.
All the symptoms are due to estrogen deficiency.
So the missed period might be starting of menopause.
But if get any heavy bleeding or irregular bleeding or bleeding after a gap of 6 months then consult the doctor for further management.
Hope this satisfies your query.
Good luck....Dr.srilatha
