Mirena inhibits ovulation only by 25%

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear
i can understand your concern.

In my clinical practice this Question is raised by many of my patients.

i would like to explain you the way Mirena works.

Mirena contains of levonorgestrel and a slow hormone realizing system.

Mirena may work in different ways

1.Mostly by thickening cervical mucus it inhibiting sperm movement and survival of sperm.
2. Thinning the lining of your uterus and prevent implantation.

Mirena can cause your menstrual bleeding to be less by thinning the lining of the uterus.

There are many studies conducted with Mirena,in most of the study participants ovulation is seen @ 65-75% of cycles.

hope this satisfies your query.
