What Causes Nausea And Vertigo After Missing Ranitidine?

Question: I ran out of ranitidine on Friday. On Sunday I developed severe nausea and vertigo. It is Wednesday and the symptoms are still present but not as severe. I am 4 years post roué-en-y bypass and been taking ranitidine 150 mg q12h since.

Hello
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for the query.
I understand your concern.
Ranitidine causes suppression of acid hence can improve nausea, but does not help vertigo. Hence unlikely that vertigo is due to stopping it.
Can try restarting it at only once night dosing and see if you are better especially since you are taking it for a very long time.
Lifestyle modification will help you.
1) Eating on time
2) taking adequate sleep
3) regular walking
4) do not sleep 2 hours after meals
5) cut down on stress and anxiety
6) Avoid painkillers if any
All this will help you to control symptoms in long run.
Hope this answers your query.
Best wishes
Happy to help.
