Hello Ma'am

After going through the medical details provided by you and your previous medical history from your other queries I would like to tell you that your symptoms are all because of the problem of hiatus hernia you have and it's sequale esophagitis.

In esophagitis the mucosal lining of the esophagus get eroded pain or discomfort arises which can be felt in the areas supplied by same dermatomes.

Pain in esophagitis is most commonly radiated to back along with throat discomfort.

I hope this information will be helpful.

Kind regards

Brief Answer:
Hello again

Detailed Answer:
Yes it should but if it's not then probably you need an endoscopy to see the realtime picture of your gastric and esophageal mucosa to see if there are any significant erosions or not.

So it's advisable that you should personally consult a gastroenterologist for evaluation and treatment plan decision.

Hope to have been helpful

thanks. I did have another endoscopy in January and at that time it cleared up At that time the gastroenterologist said I did not have to come back for a year. can erosions happen this fast? I am sure my smoking about 7 cigarettes a day wasn't helping. can the nausea, right chest pain and throat tightness at times be caused from nerves thinking about this or not. thanks again

Brief Answer:
Hello Again

Detailed Answer:
Yes erosions can happen over a period of 6 months. Above that if you smoke also then it makes the situation more worse.

Now after knowing that you smoke also and you are having chest discomfort i would also like to advise you to get one ECG done to make sure there are no signs of any heart disease especially Coronary Artery Disease.

Nerve weakness can also cause but that's not the problem in your case.

Kind Regards

I went to gastrologist today. along with the omeprazole that I am taking he put me on ranitidine 300 MG to take at night. he seems to think this will help with nausea and late heartburn. your thoughts? I asked about hiatal hernia surgery. said it was up to me but I got the feeling he wasn't keen on it. any thoughts on all of this? thanks

Brief Answer:
Hello Again

Detailed Answer:
Yes Ma'am Ranitidine is good and will take care of the symptoms.

Regarding hiatus hernia surgery decision it's advisable to go with the opinion of the Gastroenterologist as he is the best judge of that field.

If you feel central chest pain or discomfort just get one ECG done to make sure that everything is fine from cardiac point of view.

Kind Regards
