What Causes Nausea, Vomiting, Fever And Chills In A Child After Eating Chicken?

Question: My daughter ate some chicken from a roadside stand. She became nauseous within 4-5 hours. In addition to vomiting, she had a fever and body aches/ chills.
Vomiting lasted for maybe 8-12 hours. But, she has been bedbound for almost 2 days.
Now, she has a bad headache with a lot of pressure.
We are in vacation in italy. Not sure if I need to find a local doctor or if I can continue to manage her symptoms with hydration and tylenol.

Brief Answer:
you'd better find a doctor
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
although the whole story sounds like a food-borne gastroenteritis with preformed toxin, the headache is a little worrisome because severe headache is not expected after such an incident. Besides that, most such cases resolve over 24 hours. It's not common for the symptoms to continue 2 days after their first occurrence. If her fever and all other symptoms are gone then it's probably getting over it but a doctor should check her neck mobility (check for neck stiffness actually) just in case. Hydration and tylenol are fine for now.
Kind Regards!
