What Causes Nausea While On Treatment For Hiatus Hernia?

I am 36 YO female, taking Nexium 20mg 1-2 x per day for hiatus hernia diagnosed 3 years ago. Over the last month I have started feeling nauseous again every time I eat (one of my first symptoms) and I find even the smallest amount of food can make me feel bloated and like vomiting. I am fit, seeing a personal trainer several times a week, and am not overweight (approx 62kg at 173cm tall). I feel like my diet hasn't changed substantially in recent weeks but the symptoms keep getting worse. I am normally at the very low end of the B12 reference range, becoming deficient twice (not sure if this makes any difference). I occasionally take Tramadol for pain relief as I have 2 injured discs in my lower back (L4/5 + L5/S1) which can flare up but I was told this shouldn't make an impact.
HI
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for the query.
I understand your concern.
Well likely your nausea can be related to your long standing dyspepsia.
Tramadol is aggravating your symptoms as it is known to worsen nausea hence try and stop it.
Some lifestyle modification will help you.
1) Eating on time
2) Taking adequate sleep
3) Regular walking
4) Avoiding sleep 2 hours after meals
5) Cutting down on stress and anxiety
All this will help you to control symptoms in long run.
Also can try taking prokinetic like domperidone usually available as an over the counter medication 10 mg thrice a day before meals and see how you feel.
If you are still not better need to see a gastroenterologist.
Also do not take any additional over the counter supplements if you are taking for few days and see if you feel better.
Hope this answers your query.
Wish you a speedy recovery.
Happy to help.
