Brief Answer:
It could be due to gastritis from Glycomet

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome to HCM. I have gone through the question and understand your concerns.

Metformin ( Glycomet SR) is the first drug of choice in diabetes.

The options she have when she have nausea on Metformin are:

1. Try to change the brand of metformin - Carbophage, Glyciphage etc

2. Change to other medications - sitagliptin ( Januvia 100 mg ), Glimepiride ( Amaryl 1 mg) or Pioglitazone ( Pioz 15 mg ) or insulins are options

3. Treat gastritis - with drugs like rabeprazole + domperidone and continue Metformin

Do an HbA1c which will tell us about the severity of diabetes and will help us in choosing the medication.
Consult a diabetologist or endocrinologist to get help with the treatment.

Hope I have answered your questions. If you have any further queries I will be happy to help you
