What Causes Nausea, diarrhea, low Grade Fevers And Red Sores Beneath Nails?

Question: I have a daughter who has had pleurisy off and on since November of 2013. She also has had problems with nausea, vomiting and diarrhea fairly consistently since about December. She has been tested for Parasites, had a normal lung xray 2x and her CBC, and other lab values have all come back in the normal range. She has not had a Sed rate yet? I am concerned because she has missed so much school. I am worried she could have a serious underlying medical condition like Lupus. She also has low grade fevers and weird red sores beneath her thumb nails. Should she have further tests and if so what?

Brief Answer:
Yes you should get a specialist consultation.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.
I can understand your concern.

Yes you should get a specialist consultation for further evaluation of your child. Based on the physical examination findings you may be asked to get certain investigations done. It can rarely happen that a child get consecutive infections just by sheer coincidence. Your child may require to be further investigated for finding out the cause of all those problems she is having.

The answer for what investigations should be done depends on the physical examination findings. It is difficult to comment what investigations should be done with out a physical examination.

Hope this helps.
Take care.
