What Causes Neck Stiffness At Night And Collarbone Pain Post An Injury?
Question: Good Morning
I suffered a fall on some concrete stairs 8 days ago. Since I recently had rt shoulder surgery for a rotator cuff repair I turned abruptly to my left to try and protect myself and fear I now have whiplash (My symptoms include neck stiffness, particularly at night and some pain/strain in my front collarbone and some shoulder stiffness. I am out of the country and will not be able to be examined until my return to the US next week. I have taken some ibuprofen and it only helps a little. Does whiplash take a while to heel? I can move my head from side to side and back and forth with minimal effort and pain. I continue my shoulder home PT exercises with no additional pain. Is this a normal recovery from a fall such as this? Thank you

Brief Answer:
Continue same treatment, avoid excessive movement of neck
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Trauma to neck region with sudden fall may vary in intensity depending upon extent of injury.
If neck movements are full and no swelling over neck or collar bone then possibility of severe injury is less likely.
Imaging may be required if symptoms persists.
You should continue treatment for pain.
Physiotherapy should be continued.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
