Question: (My daughter has a low MPV) (lumps in her neck like- lymph nodes but those blood tests are fine)(shes had a lumpectomy she is only 3 yrs old). (She has had a positive CMV testing) not sure how she got it though. She just had a lower mpv but not by much. She had a small kidney issue when she was 6 months old but has surpassed that.. that got better but at 1 yr old is when the lumps in her neck started,( again this was while she was on antibiotics) She seems happy always has even at 6 months when she had a 105.6 fever and in the er. She eats non stop im hungry always comes out of her mouth even if shes just eatin!! she's waiting on a 2 nd testing for cmv igg testing again but it will be in next week.. Is she diabetic? or does it sound like auto immune? we have auto immune all over my famliy even me. I do blood every 2 to 3 months for my ruematologist and neurologist. Her primary dr has retired and moved and her new dr is so upsetting me cause i ask for the testing and he says its not necessary. Can anyone help me? i have 2 dr who finally listen to me BUT now i need someone to hear her! The current dr said he consulted a infectious disease doctor who said the lumps should go away but they havent in over 2 years so not sure why they are not looking down a new road.
Also not sure if this is important, but the complications to her c-section was 10 days after having her i hemorrhaged outside the hospital after having staples out, my uterus did not drop they had to give me a partial hysterectomy and 8 bags of blood transfusion.
She had to go from breast milk to reg baby formula..two months in she had to go to soy milk than her body was not taking well to that much either.
at 8-9 months old we switched her to all natural goats milk she did awesome on it
and gained weight. she seems to do ok with cheese products now but i still give her lactaid milk. just wanted to make sure i cover everything for you to understand everything she has gone through. She also had a reflux testing she was fine there too.

Brief Answer:
Possible CMV relapse?Need further work up

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Madam.

I understand your concern.

I have gone through her query in detail.

These neck swellings could possibly be CMV-related.The possibility of autoimmune disease is also high.CMV also potentiates many autoimmune diseases.

She might have acquired CMV congenitally.

Hence, your daughter needs 3 basic tests.

1.Lymph nodal biopsy of the neck.
2.Complete autoimmune screen.
3.Screening ultrasound of kidneys.

Further management is based on test results.

Post your further queries if any.
Thank you.

She has had a biopsy of one lymph in her neck was neg for cancer.
I have asked this new doctor to run for autoimmune he says he doesn't see a need for it. In your advice should i find a new dr?? He is from Nigeria and only seen her twice but he doesn't seem to hear me to well. I'm honestly hoping to see a infectious disease dr so hopefully he will hear me.

They tested only her sed rate it was a 10 3 months ago now it is at 9.
Waiting on her cmv igg reports which should be back by Tuesday or Wednesday.
I told him I would just like an ultrasound to double check and make sure the small mass is gone and that she is ok. im still struggling to get anywhere..
I'm so glad with feed back.. I have a few other questions i will be asking on my other daughter.

Brief Answer:
Consult both ID specialist and an Immunologist.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Madam.

I understand your concern.

I advise you to consult both Infectious disease specialist and Immunologist for better services.

I also request you to upload the full copy of lymph node biopsy report, so that I can view that and provide you additional help.

ESR(sedimentation test) is not reliable for making the diagnosis.

Ultrasound of the neck will also be useful in her case to document the nodal number and size.

Post your further queries if any.

Kindly update me with Biopsy soft copy report and CMV IgG and IgM results.

Thank you.
