What Causes Nose Bleeds?

Information:
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome,
Without a medical history, I will just provide general information on nose bleeds.
Most nose bleeds fall into one of two categories:
irritation, inflammation, or trauma to small blood vessels in the nose/sinuses
or
bleeding problems
Of these two categories, the irritation or damage to the blood vessels is more common.
With little kids, one of the most common causes is nose picking.
With adults, a common cause is irritation of the mucus membranes of the nose from dry air, such as when the heat is on in fall or winter, or if you are in a dry environment.
So - with the inflammation, irritation type, this can happen from the common cold, sinus infection, allergies, irritation from smelling things like scents and perfumes and any irritating chemicals such as bleach, snorting cocaine, putting a nose spray applicator in the nose, and of course getting bonked in the nose.
Nose bleeds are more likely from anything that increases the likelihood of bleeding such as blood thinners and inherited bleeding disorders.
Polyps and growths can cause nose bleeding too.
I hope this information helps.
