What Causes Occasional Pain In Buttock While Coughing?
Question: moderate occassional left buttock pain, not in leg. Old lower back disc injury in 1973 without problems since. Just all of a sudden woke ip and during any coughing it hurt. Not walking or lifting. I've considered pylops and getting a colonoscopy but would rather treat it if possible. Nerve?
Brief Answer:
it sounds like radiculopathy
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I am Dr Mittal .
I have read your query.
I think I would be able to help you.
The symptoms of the query are quite suggestive of a possible radiculopathy. The pain in radiculopathy need not necessarily radiate down tk the whole leg.
I think I would suggest a repeat MRI of LS spine along with NCS of both lower limbs.
The treatment would depend on the cause of pain detected on the 2 tests.
I have tried to make it as simple as possible. I hope that the information helps you. Please feel free to contact us for more information. Best of luck. Dr Mittal.

I have always been fairly regular bm's. After contacting this site I did what I rarely do and I pushed a little harder than most times. It seemed to be constipation, releasing harder stools than normal, usually stools are soft. After the bm the pain subsided and is mostly gone. I can still feel a small tinge if I cough, But not like the past two days. I probably should still get a check up and mention your report. I also thought of trying a stool softener for a few days and see if that eliminates it. I don't take any medication of any kind. Makes sense if a growth could put pressure on a nerve ending then a hard stool could also. Thanks
