Question: I had a C-section and a tubal done 3 years ago, last year my periods were awful, went to the doc, they put me on birthcontrol, I took it for 6 months didn't seem to help a lot, then for the last six months my periods are a little better but now I am experiencing a foul smell with light bleeding on and off after my period and pretty much through out the month. and my C-section scar is still tender if there is any pressure put there. I am concerned and wondering? I have no signs of a yeast infection, there is no pain during sex.?? I just don't understand what is going on.
Brief Answer:
ENDOMETRITIS LIKELY
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
I think you are having some form of endometritis.
This is infection of the lining of the uterus ( the endometrium ).
That would explain the foul smell and the irregular spotting post menstrually and mid cycle.
Also, the C section scar tenderness also signifies inflammation in the pelvis - near the uterus and ovaries.
It could be a pelvic infection too ( in the tubes and ovaries ).
As there is no foul smelling discharge, redness, itching or pain, coexistent vaginal / cervical infection seems unlikely.
Please consult a gynaecologist and go for a complete internal evaluation - per vaginum and per speculum.
Also, go for a pelvic transvaginal ultrasounds scan.
THis would reveal a diagnosis.
A swab and culture from high up in the cervix would identify the exact organism.
Meanwhile have protected sex till the issue is resolved.
All the best
