Hi
Thanks for being at HealthcareMagic
I have reviewed the attached photograph and it seems to be some vascular defect.
I need to ask you few questions.
What is the duration of the patch?
Is it flat or slightly raised above the skin surface?
Is she having any itching, burning, bleeding or any other complaints on the patch?
If possible upload the photographs of the affected ear patch also.
Kindly revert with the answers and pictures.

The patch on scalp was noticed 2 days ago when brushing my 4 year old's hair, she would cry if you touched it, she says it burns and I can tell it is really hurting her. She says it doesn't itch, she won't let anyone touch it. Last night she said it hurt behind her ears and sure enough there are 2 spots behind her ears. It almost looks like orange paint, however, they haven't been around any paint, dyes or anything else orange we can think of. I am an RN and I have never seen anything like this. We put Tea Tree oil on it to appease my 4 year old and it is now making the spot lighter in color. My 8 year old now has 2 spots behind her ear and it looks like our 2 year old has something starting behind her ears... weird. Could it be something fungal? Attached is pic of the spot behind my 4 year old's ear,
Brief Answer:
Looks like bacterial infection, topical antibiotic & anti inflammatory drug
Detailed Answer:
I have reviewed the newly attached photograph and gone through your history.
Considering its sudden onset, short history and associated pain, it seems to be more like a bacterial infection.
I would recommend you to apply a topical antibiotic like neosporin ointment or mupirocin cream on the affected areas twice daily and give her anti inflammatory medicine like ibuprofen syrup.
