What Causes Pain And Numbness In Calves And Toes?
Question: I experience pain and numbness in both calves and toes...I have been on cholesterol drugs for many years.
Brief Answer:
For how long has this been going on?
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.
I am so sorry to hear about this numbness and pain that you have reported. Given your age and the treatment with statins, am concerned the blood vessels of the leg could be decreased in diameter. I will like to know for how long you have had this problem and whether there has ever been a time when you had issues with your blood vessels any where else. Also, do you have diabetes or hypertension?
I will like to get these answers so as to be able to tell what the problem is and propose helpful recommendations to help resolve this problem. I hope to hear from you at your earliest convenience.

Thank you for your response: I have had this problem, off and on, for approx. 2 months. I have not had issues with blood vessels. I am in excellent physical condition and cycle 60-80 miles a week, do not have diabetes that I am aware of. Get a blood test annually. Problem is worst when I get out of bed.
I live in Canada, getting to see a doctor is very difficult ( approx. one month wait)
Is there more info required?

Brief Answer:
Monitor then for now!
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this precision.
With the ability to cycle 80miles a week without any issues, it is unlikely to be an issue with blood circulation. I will rather classify this as a transient and non specific pain. If it is very serious, get tylenol for relief and if not, continue to observe only. Unless something else comes up.
Keep me posted and let me know how this evolves. There is no emergency at this time in addressing this.
