Question: This AM middle finger was somewhat painful to touch between 1st & 2nd joint. Then it seemed to go away. About an hour ago, I noticed the same area looked purple with no pain. It looks only slightly blue right now, still without pain. Never had th oily s before. Any idea what might be the cause?

Brief Answer:
Hello. I understand your concern here

Detailed Answer:
This could be a gout attack with elevated uric acid levels in your blood.

It also could be a sign of rheumatoid arthritis.

You need to have a doctor look at this and I would get some blood work to determine what's going on.

Gout can be treated with a medication called Colcrys and RA can be treated with prednisone, ibuprofen, and methotrexate
