What Causes Pain And Swelling In Toe Caused By An Ingrown Nail?
Question: dear doctor,
I had an accident years back, I lost the nails of my toe's then. after that my nails grow very creepy. I used to trim in some shape patiently, but last night I had a very bad pain in the edge of the nail of my left leg. picture attached. I assume it may be due to uneven growth at the edges, but its not. I need help

Brief answer....infection at nail edge
Detailed answer...
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
I have read your query and seen the photograph.
Yes you are right that it is not ingrown toe nail but there is infection and swelling along the nail edge which is causing pain there.
You require a course of broad spectrum antibiotic along with anti inflammatory analgesic drugs.
Normally in my practice I prescribe tablet AUGMENTIN 625 mg three times a day along with ibuprofen 400 mg three times a day for five days.
Consult your doctor for the prescription .
I hope it helps, however you are most welcome to revert to me for any further query.
Best of luck
Thanks
