What Causes Pain And Tenderness On Face After A Sinuplasty?

Mild increase in cough and secretion expected.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for asking your query on HCM.
I understand your concern.
It is normal for you to feel tired and fatigued after sinuplasty. There may be pain and tenderness of the face over the region of the sinuses. you would know that the the openings of the sinuses were dilated with a balloon during the procedure of sinuplasty, facilitating drainage of the sinus secretions into the back of the nose (Nasopharynx). There would normally have more discharge and a cough. Since you have COPD, your usual cough and sputum would be increased due the added secretion from the sinuses. The secretion may be blood tinged for up to a week.
If you have thick sputum which is more colored than normal or if you develop fever with worsening of breathlessness, there may be an infection. This may produce an exacerbation of the COPD and you may require an oral antibiotic and other medicines.
If symptoms do not improve in a few days or they continue to increase or you have a fever, eye pain or eye swelling or headache, you should see your doctor.
If you have further query, I am available.
Wish you a quick recovery.

oh, and by the way, I had the procedure over 3 weeks ago and they tell me it takes at least 2 weeks for the antibiotic they prescribed to work so I already do have an infection. Hard to believe it takes that long and a person has to walk around with an infection from surgery for weeks
COPD is not diagnosed from Xray
Detailed Answer:
Welcome again.
Sorry for the delay in replying.
COPD is not diagnosed based on the chest xray. It is diagnosed on the basis of Lung Function Test ( Spirometry).Without significant infection the xray would be clear and show only signs of hyperinflation/increased broncho vascular markings.
If you have had a spirometry, send me the report or the readings and I will be able to tell you whether you have COPD or not.
If the sputum is clear, it means you do not have any significant infection and you do not require additional oral antibiotic.
Don't worry, this will pass soon.
I shall be happy to interpret your Spirometry results if you have any.
Regards,
Dr. Noble Zachariah, Kuwait
