What Causes Pain Between Vagina And Anus?

default
Posted on Mon, 8 Sep 2014
Question: For the past couple of days I have been having pain in the area between the vagina and the anus. Yesterday I had diarrhea and today I am having difficulty sitting because of the constant pain in this area. I felt a lump under the skin. I have been taking over the counter pain medications today. Is this something I should be concerned about?

Brief Answer:
Probably perineal abscess

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,welcome to HealthcareMagic forum.

As you describe,it seems like you are suffering from a perineal abscess-a soft tissue infection in this area.
This needs to be treated with antibiotics and analgesics. For such patients in my clinic,I usually give antibiotics like amoxicillin+cloxacillin or azithromycin(if not allergic to),along with analgesics like diclofenac or ibuprofen(tylenol is unlikely to help pain in this area).Anyhow,if there is already a pus collection,we will have to drain that before starting the antibiotics.Kindly avoid any delay in treatment,as this can cause progression of infection.
Your doctor will guide you in this.

Hope I have answered your query.
Wishing for a faster cure.
Regards,Dr Aslam.
