Question: just had a epidural steroid injection 3 days ago in lower back.I have pain down both legs like ive pulled a muscle is this normal and i have back ache what pain relief should i take

also have had carpel tunnel operation and its starting again can carpel tunnel keep re occuring on the same hand

Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.

If the pain on legs is a new symptom and wasn't there before epidural injection, then you should discuss this with your treating Doctor to exclude any post injection side effect.

Steroids need three to seven days to work after epidural injection, in this time you can use NSAID drugs ( Ibuprofen) or pain reliever drugs (if you are not alergic to them and there are no contradictions), if your symptoms are moderate to severe.

Tunnel carpal syndrome can reoccur in rare cases mainly due to fibrosis after operation.

There is need for a nerve conduction study ( ENMG) in order to confirm/ rule out diagnosis.
