What Causes Pain In Center Of Chest Radiating To Back?

Question: I have had what i think is Bilious attack, it began on monday eveningwith apain in the centre of my chest which spread to my sides and back. I then began to vomit ,several times eventually bringing up a lot of yellow bile. I have had these attacks twice in the past year,but with nothing like the severity of this. the pain has subsibed but I cannot eat. Iam a 67 year male. I should be most grateful for any help you can give me

Hi,

I am sorry for the situation you are in.

From what you are describing, to my opinion, it seems to be related to acute pancreatitis.

Further diagnostic tests are advised to run as soon as possible to determine the right diagnosis:

- abdominal ultrasound
- complete blood count
- biochemical testing: fasting blood sugar levels, blood lipase and amilase, liver function test
- CRP
- ct-scan

For the moment, I advise to:
- continue taking gaviscon
- take antispasmodic drugs
- eat often, small portions and chew up slowly
