Posted on Fri, 20 Mar 2015
Question: I broke my Tibia and Fibula a year ago - I have metal rods in them and they have healed but I have now developed pain in my feet - especially my middle toe which is now fatter than the other toes and has a bump on the side. Any idea?

Brief Answer:
This might need surgical excision! It is likely a bunion!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this pain and all the inconveniences this has caused you. The description of this condition is typical of a bunion. This requires excision for best results. It is not caused by the metal rods in your tibia. This is caused by repeated poor position of the leg that leads to skin and bone hypertrophy at this point that leads to pains. Surgery and adapted footwear from a podiatrist alongside pain medications would help address this condition.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
