Question: Hello I'm 49 and have a fibroid and the doctor recommended a hysterectomy. No issues with ovaries just the fibroid is pressing on my bladder and feel a little bloated. Why would he recommend ovaries to come out,? Ovaries were reported unremarkable?

Brief Answer:
Ovaries should be removed

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Ovaries are generally removed as a rule if the hysterectomy is done after the age of 45-49 years.
This is so because the ovarian function is almost finished by this age and chances of developing ovarian cancer is increased.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
