Question: my dad has had all the PAD procedures done. Today they went into his groin to check and its good they say. dad cried today his feet hurt and ive noticed just before his toes on both feet what looks like old blood very dark from side to side under the skin his toes are swollen I thought the very early stage of gangrene? he rocks the pain is that bad he takes Norco now they want him to take 4-3 a day but it doesn't work I thought tramadol but to many side affects plus he had a stroke yrs back can you please give me some suggestions on what we can try I thought of maybe loretab or cet I'm a chronic pain person for 19 yrs so I've tried a few this will be long term this is the first time dad has ever taken pain meds thank you : )

Hi,

From what you describe a Gangrene, it sounds like an emergency. If the clot had been dislodged distal and compromised the circulation to the toes he will have a difficult situation. I suggest you to show at the emergency. Early changes in gangrene can salvage a great part of the foot if effectively treated. The swelling has to be checked if in pain.

You can also upload a picture that you described and also the normal opposite foot. For the pain he needs prescription medications apart from Narco, Tramadol.

So do not waste too much time.
