What Causes Pain In Groin Area While Walking?
Question: Hi, I have been experiencing pain primarily in by left & right groin. It is not always acute but will grow more intense with walking and/or standing for a 1/2 hour or more. Relief can be obtained by sitting down for 1 or 2 minutes (more is even better) before resuming activity but, the pain returns. Sometimes will include my right hip joint and even my lower back sometimes.
Brief Answer:
Most likely both sides direct inguinal hernias.
Detailed Answer:
Hello. It seems to me that you have both sides direct inguinal hernias. You should get examined by a Surgeon who can tell you exactly.
Without examining you it is very difficult to say what it is. If the Surgeon can rule out hernia then other less important causes can be considered.
If it is hernia then surgery or Laparosopy would be advised.
I suggest you get examined and then let us know. Till then keep your movement and activities to a minimum.
All the best.
Take care.

Thank you for your reply. I have a couple of questions specific to direct inguinal hernias. I am working in XXXXXXX state until September. My healthcare insurance is effective only in my home state of Florida, 2900mi (4667km) away. Should I seriously consider leaving my summer job to return the 2900mi to seek medical assistance immediately? What is the downside of not having this looked at by my physician before September?
The groin area is not sore/painful to touch but when moderate pressure is applied will create mild discomfort. As mentioned, standing/walking is what brings on the ache/burn or painful symptoms and can be relieved by 1 -2 minutes of rest which will last 10 - 15 minutes before requiring rest again.
I don't want to put myself in a dangerous health situation but would like to keep this job until its September end date. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Get it diagnosed. Treatment can be done later.
Detailed Answer:
Hello
I can understand you predicament.
Direct inguinal hernia is not a dire emergency. But we dont know whether it is a hernia. I suggest you get examined by a Surgeon nearby or get an Ultrasound done to be sure what it is. Once the diagnosis is confirmed then you can wait till September for the definitive treatment. But until we are sure what it is, waiting might not be a good idea. And without examining you I cant say with complete surety what you are suffering from.
Take care.
