Brief Answer:
possible unconditioned exercise or sciatica

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
It is normal to have some pain if you start running all of a sudden one day. You need to start on your running schedule gradually and give it pace then. And before running you need to start with warm up exercises. While your muscles are not tuned to exercise, they may hurt a little after exercise as well.
However if you are having real back pain and the pain goes on along the back of the thigh and from on to the shin, to the foot that may be suggestive of sciatica especially if only on one side. In that case if you raise your leg above at 90 degrees that should be positive. Initial treatment starts with the use of NSAIDS and conditioning exercises. If that doesn't relieve, you may need to go to your doctor who will have an MRI of your back to further delineate your problem. Thanks
