Brief Answer:
Need more information.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for writing to us about it.

I can understand your concern.

There are so many causes of nipple pain other than pregnancy and breast feeding.

So before giving my opinion to you I want more information like is she having any discharge, skin changes, itching and irritation?

What time it is there?

Is it associated with period bleeding?

Please revert to me with my answer.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Good luck.

Regards
Dr.Richa

Brief Answer:
It can be due to friction or due to hormonal imbalance.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Nice to hear from you once again.

As with your history pregnancy, breast feeding, infection, abscess and cancer are ruled out.

So there may be two possibilities left one is due to friction and other is hormonal imbalance.

As she is not having any other symptoms except for pain there is no need to worry about hormonal imbalance.

Pain relief will be there within 2-3 days. Use over-the-counter pain medications like paracetamol, ibuprofen, warm compresses can also be helpful. If it persists then it requires physical examinaitn and investigation and then treatment.

Hope it is useful.
