Question: I have had pain in right abdomen near to hip area for the last 12 months. the pain is like a twinge sometimes sharp. I have had all investigations but nothing found. When pain is at worse I can feel pain in back towards right side and also right upper back behind rib. the pain is worse when moving up and down from that area. Brief Answer:
Kidney stones or spine disc problem can be the case.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Such pain can be caused by urinary tract stones (kidney stones) or spine disc problems.
Kidney stones usually give sudden, sharp back pain radiating to lower abdomen and groin. Burning while urinating, frequent urinating, trace of blood in urine can be present. Such pain can appear after some physical activity.
Spine disc problem gives similar pain, however it usually radiates to buttock and leg more than to groin.
For stones urine analysis and abdominal ultrasound should be done. However ultrasound can be negative (stones are sometimes hard to visualize).
Spine disc problems should be diagnosed with spine MRI.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.

thank you for your reply. I feel that the pain is more in abdomen right hand side level with belly button but more to side , can be intense at times, the pain felt in back towards right hand side is more discomfort than pain . The pain is also felt upwards behind ribs this can be sharp. The pain is made worse with lifting and physical activity. I dont have problem with urination but think at the same time as pain in abdomen there is also some discomfort lower abdomen towards groin.

My doctor has not offered any explanation for this pain and now I am starting to worry about it.

thank you XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Urinary tract issue seems most probable.

Detailed Answer:
So this symptoms point to urinary tract issue. Urine analysis and abdominal ultrasound is what should be done for sure.
You should also increase mineral water intake and start cranberries supplementation.
Hot bath should ease the pain.
