What Causes Pain In The Chest And Throat While Treating Acid Reflux?

My epiglottis drives me nuts. i take already one week medication for stomach reflux Panto 40 and nothing . It keeps going away for a few hours and then comes back . i feel like epiglottis is of his hinges ?
it started after a strange spot pain in the left back of my throat which lasted 10 days(like some virus) , after that i woke up with funny feeling of my epiglottis touching the sides of my throat.
I eat lemon a lot. not now since i take a medication. i have no any allergies. overall my health is good. Im 55
I had very bad pains in my chest 2 month ago and they come back every week or two and even in the last two days and i am on a died and taking Panto. i do not eat any citruses, only one cafe a day ,no tea, no bubble drinks.
Doctors do believe its stomach reflux and maybe it is so however I believe that my epiglottis is more then this because after one week of taking Panto tablets there are no any changes .
My heart was checked by specialist . all good.
my throat was checked by specialists with camera after and i told them all I told you. from that moment i take Panto.it was actually Somac but pharmacist gave me Panto instead.
Thank you XXXXXXX

Hello,
Thank you for trusting HCM
The symptoms of chest pain along with a throat pain is likely due to GERD(Gastroesophageal reflux disease). Since you have already undergone endoscopic evaluation, problems with epiglottis is unlikely.
Pantoprazole along with life style changes can help relieve the symptoms. But it will take 3-4 weeks for you to start noticing relief.
Continue Pantop 40 every day in the morning.
Lifestyle changes include
-Avoid spicy, fatty, and fried foods as well as chocolates and carbonated drinks.
-Avoid citrus-containing foods like tomatoes, oranges, and fruit juices.
-Eat multiple small portions of food rather than three large meals.
-Limit caffeine intake.
-Have your dinner at least two hours before bedtime, so that your stomach is light before you go to bed.
-Elevate the head end of the bed by placing wooden blocks under the bed post. Using extra pillows will not provide relief.
-Avoid cigarette smoking and alcohol consumption.
-Maintain a healthy weight.
Give at least 4 weeks to see symptomatic relief.

Strange that I always feel it in my throat in intervals : One hour yes and two hours not . Or when I sleep on my left side I can feel it touching my throat . When I sleep on the right side I do not feel it. I take tablets one week and no changes. This worrying me.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again,
Acid reflux causes throat irritation by acid induced mucosal irritation. In patients with GERD, the acid can reflux back up to the throat from the stomach. The feeling you are describing of something touching/irritating is likely due to the acid irritation rather than epiglottis enlargement.
Epiglottis enlargement can cause breathing difficulty, muffled voice, and will definitely be seen during ENT and endoscopic evaluation.
As I had mentioned in above discussion, continue medications and life style changes for at least 4 weeks, you'll definitely notice the symptomatic relief.
