Brief Answer:
Non-cardiac causes

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to HCM. Thank you for your question. I understand your concern.

Well, the most important cause of the chest pain, which is the coronary artery disease, can be ruled out by your description. This does not mean you do not have it, but at least we are sure this is not the kind of pain elicited from coronary artery disease. In this case, the main "suspect" of the pain may be the musculo-skeletal particle of the chest, which means bones, cartilages and in-between-rib muscles. Therefore, I would recommend you a short course (five days) of over the couner non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs: ibuprofen, ketoprofen). If the pain persists, even after this course, then we may proceed to other tests and treatment.

I hope I was helpful. If you have follow-up questions, I am happy to help.

Best regards,
Dr. Meriton

The pain is localized, feels more like it is in the duct to the nipple, all in the soft fatty tissue of the breast--not muscular or skeletal. Only sensitive to pressure, no pain except when I touch that area. Would a cyst be sensitive?

Brief Answer:
Not a cyst

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome back.

As I stated in the original answer, you should first try a course of OTC NSAIDs. It is only if they do not work, when we can order other tests and treatment. This kind of pain does not look like a pain derived from a cyst.

I hope my follow-up was helpful. If you do not further questions, kindly close the discussion and rate the answer.

Kind regards,
Dr. Meriton
