What Causes Pain In The Left Testicle While On Ciprofloxacin?

default
Posted on Thu, 2 Feb 2017
Question: Hi and thank you. I am finishing 30 days of ciprofloxacin today. I took last tablet an hour ago. Two per day.
Things around the prostrate gland has eased off, feels a lot better. Left testicle, the upper area of it, was aching from time to time before i began taking the antibiotics. This has almost gone ...almost , there is a slight ache. I was hoping that it would be gone. Will have a Doctors appointment Wednesday next.
I was hoping that it would be completely gone. Perhaps my Doctor will suggest something when i visit.

When i attended him about a month ago , he examined me and he said that right side (i think right side) of prostrate was slightly enlarged. But was not hardened. Psa was 4.2. Blood pressure was slightly raised. It usually is perfect. Told him that i was tired more than normal.
So i was sent to get an MRI but panicked a little on the day and that was called off. Could'nt go into the tunnel.

I think my question is (i am 57 and usually healthy.) what can be done if infection has not quite gone. (no infection showed up in my blood test.)

I do feel that infection has taken a blow, i am feeling a little bet off, but i put that down to the antibiotic. I am hoping that when blood test is taken again that psa will be normal.

Would you like to comment or advise . Thanks , XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Nothing to worry about sir, a few symptoms can prevail for a short duration

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. A 30-day course of an effective antibiotic should quite suffice to help clear the infection, and at times mild symptoms may remain which subside over time and is really nothing to worry about sir.

Your last PSA level of 4.2 was very close to normal, and such values are usually related to an infection itself. I would recommend a check on both your PSA levels and your white blood count in order to better understand the status of the infection. I am also sure your levels would have normalised, and if at all (worst case scenario) your infection is still mildly prevalent, it would be the right time for your doctor to re-intiate/continue a short course of the antibiotic which will take care of the remanent infection.

If at all the infection has cleared and you just have a few symptoms then your doctor may prescribed supportive therapy, which should help suppress the symptoms and make you feel comfortable.

I hope I have explained things in a manner best understood by you sir. Please do not hesitate to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.
