What Causes Pain In The Navel Region?
Question: The last couple of days my belly button has been sore to the touch only, not when I move.
Brief Answer:
Inflammatory skin infection
Detailed Answer:
Dear sir, since your belly button is sore to touch without any other accompanying symptoms then this is most probably due to inflammatory skin infection. This requires the application of an analgesic anti-inflammatory gel as voltaren gel together with an antibiotic ointement as fucidin 3 times daily for a week. if the pain did not resolve after a week , I recommend that you undergo an ultrasound abdomen to identify the underlying cause.. I hope I answered your question.

there is no indication of any redness. does this change anything?
Brief Answer:
Systemic anti-inflammatory
Detailed Answer:
The inflammation can be internal, this means that probably local creams will not be effective.
I'd suggest you use a systemic anti-inflammatory as Ibuprofen 400mg after food every 8 hours for the next 3-4 days and observe. If no improvement occurred then please get an ultrasound scan abdomen done for further evaluation.
I hope you find this helpful.
