What Causes Pain In The Right Side Of The Abdomen?
Question: Hi. I have had pain in the right side of my abdomen for about 24 hours. It's in the middle of the right side though, not low on the hip. It is sore to the touch, and I feel a tad bloated. It hurts when I cough or move but is not "shooting pains". Very uncomfortable. I don't have any issues going to the bathroom and no fever thus far.
Brief Answer:
Appendicitis should be ruled out.
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Thank you for the query.
Such pain can be caused by an inguinal hernia. However as it is located on the lower right side, appendicitis should be ruled out. Lack of fever is quite characteristic for this issue. Pain while coughing indicates that the peritoneum is involved.
That is why, I suggest you to visit ER and do not wait with it. Abdominal ultrasound and blood work should be done.
Hope this helps.
Regards.
