What Causes Pain In The Spine Radiating To The Abdomen?

default
Posted on Wed, 10 May 2017
Question: I've been having pain in my pelvic region and lower back for about a month. It hurts to sit for long for very long, lift anything above twenty pounds, bend or crouch down. The doctors are at a loss .They have ruled out kidney stones, appendicitis, ovarian cysts, and I have had two ct scans of my pelvis and abdominal region. They both came back clear. I'm currently on leave from my work because the pain gets so bad I can't do my job. I would love some ideas or a direction I could pursue to finally figure out whats wrong.

Brief Answer:
pain of spine can radiate to abdomen.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for choosing HelthcareMagic for your query.
Have seen all your details and i appreciate your concern.
All the investigations you have mentioned are done for abdomen however strangely none of the tests were done to see if problem is there in lower spine or not.Lower back pain can be caused by a variety of problems with any parts of the complex, interconnected network of spinal muscles, nerves, bones, discs or tendons in the lumbar spine. Typical sources of low back pain include the large nerve roots in the low back that go to the legs may be irritated.
I would strongly recommend you to go for a MRI screening of lumbo sacral spine to rule out a ruptured or herniated disc, sciatica, arthritis, kidney infections, or infections of the spine.
A back injury or injury to the spine can cause pain to radiate in the abdomen. Also, a pinched nerve can not only cause pain to the entire area served by that nerve, but it can also cause various stomach functioning problems as well. Inflammation of the colon, or colitis, is very often associated with lower back pain.

Hope i answered your query well.
Follow up with reports of MRI.

Regards.
