What Causes Pain In Upper Abdomen After Meals During Pregnancy?
My Wife is in her 9th(34 weeks) month of her first pregnancy. She is doing well most of the times. We have completed Fetal anomaly scan, Baby well being scan, several blood, sugar and urine tests. As per all the reports everything is normal.
She has been suffering from mild pain in upper abdomen after meals. Regular doctor told us that is because of gastric issues. Most of the time pain will last for 30 mins to 1 hour.
But since yesterday, the pain is a bit more and is lasting longer i.e 3-4 hours. Is it something to worry?. Can you kindly help us in overcoming this problem?.
Mostly due to indigestion problem or acidity.
Detailed Answer:
Hello Dear,
Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for writing to us.
Mild upper abdominal pain is quite common during 3rd trimester of pregnancy. It occurs due to indigestion problem or acidity. Take adequate healthy digestible diet and drink more water.
If all recent reports are quite NORMAL, then you have nothing to worry much about your baby. She may feel some compression like feeling on upper abdomen due to high up position of uterus and higher amniotic volume. Take adequate rest in left lateral position.
I can suggest her to take DROTIN-DS for abdominal cramp along with antacid like Rantac 150 mg twice daily before meal. It will be helpful.
Hope, I have answered your query. Wish her good health and take care.
