Question: My daughter is 24 and she had terrible pain under her left breast at 3:30am this morning. The pain lasted for 4 hours as it continuely got worse. She took a Zantac, but it did nothing for her pain. When XXXXXXX was born she had a heart murur. I am concerned that this is more than a stomach conern. What do you think?
Brief Answer:
Not due to heart related cause.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The symptoms of heart related pain include squeezing type of chest pain with sweating and nausea/vomiting. The predisposing factors include smoking, stress, obesity, hypertension, diabetes, increased cholesterol, etc.
Presence of a heart murmur is not worrisome and does not cause such a pain.
The chest discomfort she is experiencing could be because of acidity or a lung infection like pleurisy. Acidity with the features of acid reflux will present as chest discomfort, eructation, with or without burning sensation in the chest and more so after meals.
In case the pain is persistent or recurrent then do consult your physician for proper examination.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.
Regards.
