Posted on Mon, 28 Jul 2014
Question: Hi,
I have a boil/cyst on my back that happens to be in the muscle next to my spine and is causing pain when I move my neck. I have access to retinol .1 percent, silvadene, tiger balm and biofreeze. What would be the best to ease the soreness for the night until I can get some boil ease tomorrow.

Brief Answer:
You could apply Silvadene

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome to healthcare magic.

I understand from your query that you are having a painful boil on your back.

You could apply Silvadene cream which is an antibiotic 2 times.

You could also give some hot compresses to that area. This should work better than the cream.

If you have an oral anti inflammatory drug like Ibuprofen, you could take one at night for better symptom relief.

Hope this helps you.

If you have any other queries, I will be glad to assist.

Take care.

Dr. Johny Chacko
