What Causes Painful Bruise On Forearm?

default
Posted on Thu, 30 Jul 2015
Question: I had not been playing golf in many years and have gotten back into the game. I have been playing too often and hitting too many balls at the range I think. I have what appears to be golfers elbow. My forearm is bruised in pain and somewhat black and blue. Noticed it last Saturday. It's looking better but I am supposed to play next Tuesday in a very important outing. Should I play? Can I play? Is there anything I can do?

Brief Answer:
You can play!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about these symptoms that you have reported. I have reviewed the image and it is suggestive of a bruise under the skin. This suggest that you played beyond what the body is adapted to. I will recommend that you rest the elbow completely and show up for this very important outing. After that, you should take some rest and allow for complete healing. Also, only return to hitting the golf and do not attempt to hit more than you are used to doing.

In all, you can play. Rest, tylenol and Icing will help control the symptoms. After this game, give yourself some time for full recovery before returning to the game.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.

Thanks for the news! Should I or can I wear any type of support while I play? It's pretty sore.

Brief Answer:
The location doesn’t allow for a support!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I said you should rest the arm and make sure it recovers a little before this game. I will like to know that you are not in severe distress. If you think you think it hurts so much, then I will say let this match go. If you can support the pain and play good, go on. Otherwise, the location of this sore is not amendable to putting on a support as it is not on a moveable/joint area.

Best wishes and keep me updated.
