What Causes Painful Bumps Outside The Rectal And Constipation?

Considerations
Detailed Answer:
Hello & thank you for submitting your question to HCM.
It is impossible to definitively say what these "bumps" are without a physical examination; however often during bouts of constipation, extreme straining can result in hemorrhoid formation.
Also, it may be that pre-existing hemorrhoids may have become inflamed. To ease the symptoms, you may try an over the counter hemorrhoid cream and warm sitz baths/soaks.
Hopefully the laxative will start to take effect soon. You may try drinking warm water and light exercise, as these also help with colonic motility.
If you remain constipated for another day, please see your physician for a physical examination.
I hope this was helpful.
Sincerely,
Dr Galamaga

Detailed Answer:
This is concerning that the bump is getting bigger & is stil painful. The cream may help reduce swelling if this is a hemorrhoid, however it would probably be best to see someone in person since there is progression of your symptoms. Please schedule an appointment with your physician to have a physical examination to rule out other more serious causes for the swelling and pain, such as infection or a fissure. In the meantime, try not to strain while having bowel movements, keep the area clean, and avoid sitting for prolonged periods directly on the involved area.

Detailed Answer:
I am glad you had this examined in person. The degree of bleeding you describe (=need a sanitary pad to absorb blood) is significant and should be re-evaluated. The physician may elect to use a topical type of treatment to help with the bleed or you may be a candidate for a small surgical procedure. In the meantime, keep the stool loose to avoid straining or further irritation to the area and keep the area clean. Please re schedule with a physician.
