What Causes Painful Lump On Pubic Area?

Question: I have been having lower abdominal pain for a few weeks. Also a golfball size lump will appear at the pubic area and cause pain. When I lye down for a while the lump goes away. The ab pain is most at the lower left side near the belt line. I think it is a type of hernia. Can a hernia cause stomach pain.
Brief Answer:
Hernia can cause stomach pain.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
The bulge that is seen in standing position and disappearing after lying down is hernia.
The contents of the abdomen like small intestine or omentum ( abdominal fat ) will come through a opening and appear as bulge.Once you lie down, they will go into abdominal cavity.
Sometimes, the contents get blocked and lead to pain.It may later lead to intestinal obstruction and gangrene of the bowel.
Please consult your Surgeon and get examined clinically.
If it is hernia, better you get operated at this stage only and avoid complications.
Nothing to worry.
If you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.
Regards
