What Causes Painful Swallowing While Receiving Prednisone Treatment?

default
Posted on Mon, 13 Jul 2015
Question: I burned my mouth on a piece of filet fish yesterday that was heated in a microwave and I didn't realize the temperature was so hot. I didn't swallow it and drank cold liquid right away. I went to an urgent care and they gave me a 12 day round of prednisone since I also have severe allergies in case it was a reaction to a seasoning or to the fish and a mouthwash with Benadryl, licadine, and something else. I have been eating a lot of popsicles, icecream, yogurt, and some softer solid foods.

The problem is when I swallow I have a pain that wasn't there before. The burn feeling itself is better but this swallowing is annoying. It is like a twitch or a tingle when I swallow and feels like the food /drink is taking an extra minute to go down....Will it go away and what can I do about it?

So I have eaten some cheese sticks today and tried solid sausage and mashed potatoes. It feels like the solid food gets stuck in my esophogaus. I am afraid of choking...any advice on this?
