Posted on Mon, 4 May 2015
Question: I have small painless white bumps that resemble chicken skin on my labia. They are very small and I don't even feel them, I have also been in a committed relationship for 2 years and my partner has had no other sex partners and we have intercourse without condoms because I am on the depo shot and he has never had any bumps or anything, is this normal? I have also been tested for stds through urine tests and all show up normal.

Brief Answer:
Bumps are routinely seen in genital area

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to healthcare magic.I understand your concern.
It is good to know that all your reports are normal.
In my opinion the genital area is the common site of bumps and always they might not be related to sexually transmitted infections(STD).
The cause of painless bumps in your case might be the following:-
1)Folliculitis:-It is the hair follicle infection. It might present after shaving the area.It might or might not be associated with itching and pain.
2)Molluscum contagiosum-It is a viral infection where in there are painless bumps.Infection is contacted sexually.Usually resolve in 5 to 6 months. If persist even after 6 months consultation with doctor is necessary.
3)Some bumps are seen due to proliferation of epithelial cells under the skin. These might not cause any problem. But for cosmetic reasons they might be removed by laser.
As you have no complaints like fever, itching, redness or pain you need not worry. They will resolve spontaneously.Probability of STD is less in your case.Apply hot fomentation.Wear loose cotton inners.Usually with this they might subside soon.
If there size increase or any other complaints develop you might need a consultation.
Always practice safe sex with condom to prevent the spread of STD.
Hope this satisfies your query.
Feel free to discuss furthur.
