What Causes Peeling Of Skin On Corners Of Eye And Itchy Skin On Corners Of Lips?
Even on my inner eyelid, it has the same condition. The affected area is not wide.
Until recently, on the corner of my lips, my skin got a little itchy. When I checked, it got reddish and that small affected area has skin flaking off as well. That particular area feels rough and tight. However, the flaking on my eye and corner of lips is not quite the same. The skin flaking off my eye are in bigger pieces whereas the skin on the corner of my lips is more like tiny bits.
I'm slightly allergic to seafood, the night before the skin on the corner of my lips got reddish, I had BBQ squid. Not sure if this could be the cause because usually when I eat it I wouldn't have any problem. Moreover, my skin only got reddish the next day, approximately 16-18hrs later.
Could you be so kind as to attach clear images of the affected region?
Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am and welcome.
Thank you for writing to us.
I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. Although I have a few conditions I am doubting, I need to visually examine the region to be sure of the same.
I would thus like to first request you to attach clear images of the affected regions (i.e. the corner of the affected eye, corner of the mouth, and any other regions that are affected)
The next thing I need you to help me with is:
+Which of the following symptoms do you have:
-Itching
-Redness
-Color of the skin flakes
-History of oily skin or dry skin?
-Pain or burning sensation in the affected regions
-Eyelids affected?
-Cosmetics used on the face and in the regions affected?
+Rate your level of hydration on a scale from 0 to 5; 0 being very poor and 5 being 3 litres or more per day
I look forward to hearing from you in order to help you further ma'am. :)
Best wishes.
Please do try to add images of the affected region to our discussion
Detailed Answer:
Hello once again ma'am.
Thank you so much for that information.
Based on the current information I am only able to suspect a diagnosis as you have not attached images of the affected region. Based on that, the possible causes could be:
+Facial psoriasis
+Seborrheic dermatitis
+Eczema
The treatment of these conditions include the use of:
+Antibiotic cream and/or oral antibiotics
+Topical steroid cream
+Moisturising creams/lotions
+Oral anti-histamine medications (anti-allergic medication)
Without an elaborate physical examination, it will be difficult to advise the exact medications ma'am. I hope you understand how important that is. So please do consider visiting a doctor for a physical examination or write back to me if that is not possible, with images of the region (if you do not mind attaching them), and I shall list out a treatment regimen for you. :)
I hope you find my response both helpful and informative. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I would be more than happy to help.
Best wishes.
Still no attachment ma'am :(

Hello once again ma'am.
I am so sorry, I waited for almost 9 hours to see if your images get uploaded but I still cannot see them. If you can locate the part which allows you to attach images to our discussion please do so, I cannot help you with that as I do not see the same screen that you do.
If you cannot locate that part, then please do send an email with the images to the following id:

and please mention my name in the subject line as such "ATTN: Dr. Shoaib Khan"
Thank you, look forward to hearing from you. :)
And my sincere apologies for any inconvenience you faced with attaching the images ma'am.
Best wishes.
Yes ma'am, thank you; suggestions are as follows
Detailed Answer:
Hello once again ma'am.
Yes I did finally receive the images of the corner of your eyelids and your mouth. I suspect this to be seborrheic dermatitis and the treatment for it is as follows:
+Metronidazole cream or gel to be applied twice daily for the next 14 days
+Tablet terbinafine to be taken orally once a day for 2 weeks: After this you will have to write back to me with images of the region to see if the regimen will have to be extended as this tablet has to be used carefully and the course can go up to 4 weeks as well, so I request you to write back to me with clear attached images after 2 weeks of using this tablet
+Hydrocortisone cream to be applied to the region: To be applied 3 times a day for the next 10 days
I hope you find my response helpful. Please feel free to write to me anytime, and do not forget to write to me after:
+10 days
+And again after 2 weeks with clear images
Best wishes.
Queries answered ma'am
Detailed Answer:
Hi once again.
You should use both metronidazole and hydrocortisone creams. One is an antibiotic and one is a steroid cream. Yes, it should be available in any pharmacy, it is very common.
The terbinafine pills serve as an anti-fungal medication to treat yeast infections.
Best wishes.
