What Causes Persistent And Isolated Nausea In An Elderly Woman?

Question: My 85 year old mother has had nausea for a few days. We saw a doctor and the medication recommended was an anti nausea med, also used for chemo patients. No actual cause for the nausea was diagnosed and she has no fever, headache, or other illness. She has been otherwise healthy until this has come upon her. She takes good care of herself, stays hydrated and her appetite has always been good. Her blood pressure is slightly elevated and she takes two meds to keep it controlled. The only other med she takes regularly is for her thyroid level which used to be elevated until a doctor supposedly deactivated it and prescribed the tablets. She seems to be improving with this anti nausea med but it has all been very odd and I would be interested to know of any likely cause.
Brief Answer:
Isolated Nausea rarely has an identified cause!
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for this query.
I am so sorry to hear about this nausea your mom had. However happy that she has been improving on the anti nausea medication. Unfortunately, most nausea has no cause and it is rather associated with the illnesses than being caused by some specific disease condition. With her improving on an anti nausea drug alone, this probably had no associated disease cause as improvement would have been minimal if there was a disease responsible for this.
I hope this help throws more light into this. I wish your mom a continued and faster recovery. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
