default
Posted on Tue, 22 Aug 2017
Question: I have had upper chest pain for 2 days. It is worse when I lie down and keeps me from sleeping. I tried to sleep in my recliner. I am trying to decide if I need to go to the emergency room but I won't have anyone to drive me until tonight. I am a 78 year old woman who is overweight, had an aortic valve replacement and about 8 years a pulmonary embolism. Am currently on warfain.

Brief Answer:
Do you have omeprazole at home?

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this pain. It appears to be related to gastritis. If you have omerazole 20mg at home, I recommend you take a tablet and see how this plays. If pain persists with no regression within 2hours, then consider going to the hospital tomorrow morning for further evaluation. To be very clear, this is not a pain of heart attack given the nature and characteristics.

I hope this helps and guides. I wish you well. Feel free to keep me updated on this.
