Dizziness is commonly related to the inner ear though there are other causes as well.

Inner ear causes are: (1) vestibular neuronitis- in this case, the dizziness tends to last for hours at a time. There may be history of a recent illness.Treated briefly with meds to reduce dizziness.

(3)meniere's disease- in this case, it lasts for minutes to hours, associated with hearing loss and abnormal sounds like ringing in the ear. May need treatment with low salt diet and diuretic medications

Other causes are: related to brain stem injury, dehydration, migraines, orthostatic hypotension (blood pressure falls on standing).
