Question: For the past 2 days I have had a fever of 99-102.8 with joint and muscle aches. I am now at 95.7 with the same symptoms and sweating as well. What could be the issue? I am a 43 yr old male in relatively good shape so I don't understand this.

Brief Answer:
Viral infections most likely...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I noted your symptoms. You been dealing with it for couple of days now. Based on this description and duration of illness, I shall consider viral infection as the cause. Viral infections are commonly associated with prodromol symptoms that include joint and muscle aches. You may also be feeling tired and weak.

And sweating is a normal body phenomena when body temperature goes beyond 100 deg F. Body temperature drops to normal or below normal after sweating. This perhaps is the reason why your temperature is 95.7 now.

In this circumstance, considering the nature of your description, I will not be overly worried. I will suggest you drink plenty of fluids, eat fruits especially citrus fruits and rest adequately. You can also take tylenol tablets thrice a day to control fever. In most probabilities, you should be fine within a week's time. Incase symptoms persists or worsens, I will suggest to see your doctor.

Hope this helped. Let me know if you need clarifications.

Regards
